LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Memorial Day weekend is just one week away, and according to Trip Advisor, more people will be hitting the roads next Monday than ever before.

This Memorial Day could see a jump in vacationers, largely due to cheaper travel costs.

Gas is a lot cheaper this year than it was last year, but here in Southwest Florida, local business owners say they’re expecting big crowds.

“You got everybody from here, then you got the outta-towners that come down here to visit their families. It’s pretty packed and entertaining,” said Jamie Bedell with Stevie B’s Waterfront Cafe.

According to Trip Advisor, 41 percent of people are expected to travel for the holiday weekend.

The company says roads will be busiest this Friday, May 22 and next Monday, May 25.
