Letter offering businesses cash grant should go in garbage

A warning to all business owners in Southwest Florida, if you get a letter offering you a business cash grant, throw it away.

According to postal inspectors, the letter says the bearer of the certificate is entitled to $360,000 but first the owner has to send in an application and application fee.

“The recipient would send a check in a certain amount, depending on the grant amount they wanted – so the larger the grant amount, the more money they had to send to get it for a processing fee,” explained Renee Focht a U.S. Postal Inspector.

Once the money is sent, the owners never see a penny.

“Unfortunately, folks fall for this… and when they got their certificate… it came along with some work at home type things where they could earn money,” said Focht.
