Entrepreneurs start golf cart shuttle service in downtown Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Two people have founded Coastal Rides, a company that will operate a golf cart shuttle service in and around downtown Fort Myers.

Kelli Keslar and Krystal Sullender say they got the idea for the six-person, solar and electric-powered cart in Sarasota, where at least one is operating.

They decided to buy a cart, which they call Blue Beauty.

It will run seven days a week in and near downtown, and will run year-round, in contrast to the LeeTran trolley, that operates only 6 months of the year.

Rides will be free to pedestrians; there will be charges to carry business equipment around town, to deliver meals, and to transport large groups for longer periods of time.

The partners also hope to get money from advertising on the cart.

“We are so excited, because there is a need and downtown is a beautiful place to be. We will be sustainable and a friendly service for our tourists and local people,” said Keslar.

The cart is street-legal and is approved by the City of Fort Myers. You can call  239-770-7097 to get a ride. Or you can flag down the cart driver and hop on board, if there is a seat available.
