KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) – A 32-year-old homeless man is accused of stowing away in an airplane at Key West International Airport in hopes of leaving the country.

When Delta airline employees arrived at the airport early Thursday morning, they found Jamie Crabtree sleeping in a seat of the plane.

Monroe County Sheriff’s officials say Crabtree told them he arrived in Key West by Greyhound bus on Wednesday night, jumped the barbed wire fencing around the airport and went to a plane parked on the tarmac. Crabtree broke a seal on the door and entered the plane.

Deputy Maureen Smith says Crabtree told her he intended to stow away so he could leave the country.

He was charged with burglary and trespassing on airport property. It’s not known whether he has an attorney.
