LEE COUNTY, Fla.- If you love gardening, Lee County will have a park for you in the future.
Planners are working on the county’s first “agri-park.” It will be located on 30 acres on Joel Boulevard, about 1 1/2 miles south of State Road 80, near Alva.
County park planners will hold a meeting with anyone from the public who wants to comment, and make input, on the proposed agri-park. That session will be on June 24, at the Alva Community Center, from 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.
The park will have picnic tables and a playground, but the emphasis will be on displays for vegetables and fruits that grow locally. Plus, there will be walking trails around a lake, where people can see wading birds.
The park does not have a name yet, or a completion date. Lee County bought the land during the real estate boom, paying $26,000 per acre for the property.
