Man arrested for 3 Bonita Springs bank robberies

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- As a result of a Crime Stoppers tip, Lee County detectives were able to identify a suspect in the robbery of three banks in Bonita Springs.

Walker Hobbs, 42, is facing charges for the robberies at a BB&T and two Wells Fargo banks.

“The community is safer due to the diligence and hard work of our Robbery Unit,” said Sheriff Mike Scott. “With the community’s help and through the efforts of the hard working men and women of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, those who commit a robbery in Lee County won’t be able to enjoy their stolen cash – they’ll be behind bars.”

Scott added, “he’s certainly greedy, lazy, greedy, and worthless, frankly, to even commit one bank robbery, never mind three or more. There’s an old saying that pigs get fat, and hogs get slaughtered… perhaps that applies to him this evening.”

Detectives are investigating whether Hobbs is tied to any other crimes. Wednesday night he remained behind bars on a $90,000 bond.
