NAPLES, Fla.- A World War II veteran received a surprise visit from the North Collier Fire Department Thursday morning. Firefighters gave Gaetano “Guy” Bossone a photo book and certificate to thank the 92-year-old for his service. The photo book contained pictures from Flag Day when the veteran was honored at Freedom Memorial Park. Residents at Brookdale Senior Living community in North Naples attended the special visit that brought the veteran to tears. “This is knocking me out. I would, I would never think anyone doing this for me. I just thank everybody and wish them all good luck,” said Bossone. The veteran recently moved into the senior center. He says he formed a bond with the firefighters after they were routinely going to his house on medical calls.
