Airman from Pensacola dies in Afghanistan plane crash

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) – An airman from Pensacola is among the dead in military plane crash in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said Saturday that 29-year-old Senior Airman Nathan Sartain was one of the six crew members of the Air Force C-130J plane that went down Friday at Jalalabad air field, about 80 miles from the capital of Kabul.

Sartain was assigned to the 66th Security Forces Squadron at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

Five civilian contractors aboard the plane and an unknown number of people on the ground were also killed in the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
