FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) – Officials say a shark bit a man on the foot off a central Florida beach.

Citing authorities, Treasure Coast Newspapers (http://goo.gl/Np1xcZ) reports that the 22-year-old man was swimming at Pepper Park Beachside shortly after noon Monday when he felt the shark bite. He was able to swim to shore.

The newspaper reports the man was taken to a Fort Pierce hospital with two deep cuts that would require stitches.

Officials say a shark bit a Vero Beach teen on his hand Sunday morning near New Smyrna Beach.
