TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – A semi-truck was flipped over twice after a waterspout touched down on a Florida bridge.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say the truck was on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa on Sunday when the waterspout lifted the truck, flipping it on its side. The truck was then flipped a second time and came to rest upright. The driver Randall Leaver, 56, remained inside the truck and was not injured.
The narrow bridge has a cable-stayed main span and is more than 21,000-feet long.
Authorities say a nearby construction site was also damaged, several signs were knocked over and a small boat was overturned.
