Animals rescued from SC floods brought to Humane Society Naples

NAPLES, Fla.- Dozens of animals rescued from the devastating floods in South Carolina will soon arrive in Southwest Florida.

The Humane Society of Naples sent a volunteer to South Carolina on Saturday to help provide relief to animal shelters in desperate need.

“They had a lot of animals that had been displaced by the floods and so they were running out of space. They wanted to have room for those animals so they could reunite them with their owners, so they wanted to get some of the animals that were in their facilities out to another shelter and so we offered to do that,” said Patrice Worchester with the Humane Society.

The shelter is taking in 31 animals. Most are being medically evaluated at a different location so they can be taken to Naples to be adopted.

Only one of the rescued dogs is currently at the Humane Society. Envy is a border collier mix who is pregnant and due to give birth to seven puppies any day now.

A majority of the dogs that will soon arrive are hound and lab mixes. The Humane Society says this month is Dogtober which means you can adopt a dog over 30 pounds for free when you bring a case of food.
