Runners hit the street for 3rd annual Fort Myers Marathon

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Hundreds of athletes participated in the 3rd annual Fort Myers Marathon on Sunday morning.

The event first came to Southwest Florida in 2012, and has been held downtown for the last two year. Runners had to make their way over the Edison and 41 bridges, not just once but multiple times.

“I was a little nervous,” said Kristi Bartholomew of Fort Myers. “I haven’t run for several years but I started training a few months ago.  My friend really pushed me.  It was good.  I had a little kick at the end, so I felt good about that.”

About 1,000 people registered for the event, which runs alongside Pincher’s annual Stone Crab Festival.
