MARCO ISLAND, Fla.- A family and their dogs were rescued from their sinking pontoon boat an hour off of Marco Island.
The family was heading to Cape Romano when water began flooding their pontoon boat. The family says there was a foot of water coming on board from the back of the boat. A helicopter and rescue boats found the distressed family just off the tip of Cape Romano. On board were five people, four dogs and camping gear.
The family was on their way to Cape Romano to camp for the Thanksgiving holiday after the pontoon nearly capsized. This year they will be spending the holiday on land.
