FORT MYERS, Fla.- Two days from now, the force will be with millions of moviegoers around the country.

Thursday night, what may eventually be the biggest film of all time, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” will hit theaters in Southwest Florida.

“I grew up on ‘Star Wars’ and one of the first movies I remember was The New Hope,” said Justin Chaney.

Chaney ordered his tickets online early and barely made it before they sold out.

“This literally has people coming out of the woodwork,” said Mandy Mena with Edison Park 8 Cinemas.

Mena is already loading the new “Star Wars” movie into projectors and says ticket sales are through the roof.

Edison Park 8 is allowing customers to dress up in “Star Wars” costumes and fake weapons and all, but is also stepping up security.

“It is very thorough, the police department will be checking the costumes, but the people in them, we have been doing background checks all day of the people that will be here,” said Mena.

AMC theaters are not allowing props or costumes.
