Completion of new Estero village hall 1 month out

ESTERO, Fla. – Estero will have its first village hall by March 1 if construction crews can complete the building in time.

In the last year, village employees have temporarily held meetings at the fire department, but village leaders say the move is needed.

“We’re spread out,” said council member Bill Ribble. “We’ll finally get everyone under one tent and one team and having two floors makes it very easy to operate.”

The village will rent the building, which is located off of Corkscrew Road for about $14,500 a month, including maintenance fees. Remodeling to the building costs taxpayers $300,000.

Construction crews have been working seven days a week, with up to 50 workers at a time to keep the project on schedule.

Plans for the new building include council seating, offices and conference rooms.

The village signed a five-year lease with building owners, but the lease will allow the village to buy the new hall within the second year.
