Fort Myers pharmacy owner, manager’s appeal denied in federal drug case

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The owner of Gulf Coast Medical Pharmacy and his office manager, both convicted in federal court of money laundering and illegally distributing prescription medicine, had their appeals rejected by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday.

Jeffrey R. Green, 51, and Karen S. Hebble, 46, both of Englewood, were found guilty in Jan. 2015 and received prison sentences of seven and five years, respectively. The pair was also ordered to forfeit more than $4.9 million.

“That Court has now rejected, in a published opinion, their arguments that the evidence was insufficient for the jury to find them guilty, that Hebble was too minimally involved with their business to be held accountable, and that the district court should have ordered Hebble tried first so that Green (who is now married to Hebble) could testify on her behalf,” federal officials said in a statement.

Green and Hebble were convicted of distributing oxycodone and alprazolam from the pharmacy, formerly on Metro Parkway. Neither were licensed pharmacists, federal prosecutors said.
