CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) – Two South Florida parents are accused of taking their two young children along on shoplifting trip that ended in a police chase.

A Coral Spring police report says 36-year-old Undrea Leon Byrd and 29-year-old Ashley Marie Foreman were arrested Tuesday on strong arm robbery, child neglect and other charges.

The Sun Sentinel reports a security officer at the Coral Springs Mall Macy’s stopped the couple and their 4-year-old son and 3-month-old daughter as they left without paying for $448 in clothing. Police say Byrd put his hand in his pocket and threatened to shoot the employee before fleeing. The employee called police.

A police chase followed. The couple was arrested. It is unknown whether they have lawyers. The children were placed in protective custody.
