
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – The body of a man was found early Sunday morning near an abandoned kayak located off Lovers Key State Park, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
A park ranger found the kayak at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday with personal belongings inside, deputies said. The body was found about three miles from the kayak within an hour of searching, deputies said.
The body did match the belongings found in the kayak, deputies said.
The man’s identity was not immediately released pending family notification. Deputies did not say how the man died, but said it was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.
