Cape Coral Winn-Dixie hit in 2nd robbery in 1 week

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A man is accused of waiting in the line at the Winn-Dixie at 1016 Cape Coral Pkwy. before hopping over the register, brandishing a knife and stealing money out of the cash drawer Saturday morning in what was grocery store’s second robbery in a week.

Police were speaking to witnesses who say the man took off after grabbing the cash around 8:30 a.m.

The robbery is being investigated.

Winn-Dixie Regional Vice President Joey Medina said safety is the company’s priority as they work with police.

“We are taking this matter very seriously as the safety of our associates and customers is our highest priority,” he said in a written statement. “We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement in their investigation and would like to thank the Cape Coral Police Department for their quick response.”
