Eagles baseball falls to FSU in weather-shortened series finale

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. The FGCU baseball team lost to Florida State University 3-2 Wednesday in a five-inning game, making it the team’s fourth consecutive loss.

The game was called after the fifth inning due to inclement weather. The Seminoles took home the win since the team would’ve been up to bat with a lead.

Before the delay, the Eagles jumped to an early lead by scoring two runs in the top of the third inning.

However, the Seminoles responded with one run in the bottom of the inning and another two in the fourth, giving FSU the lead.

But the Eagles managed to load the bases in the top of the fifth inning after a two-out rally. But FGCU was unable to produce at the plate and the runners were left stranded, making it a 3-2 victory for FSU.

The Eagles will be traveling to DeLand to face Stetson University in its second A-Sun series of the season. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
