BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. A road has reopened after a residential fire shut down the 27000 block of Hickory Boulevard for several hours Friday afternoon.

The owner of the home was inside when the fire broke out, Bonita Springs Fire Department said.

“I was sitting upstairs, we smelled smoke,” neighbor Gerald Pigatti said. “I came downstairs and we saw a small fire coming out of the front of the house and the owner, he was in his computer room and he’s pretty much blind, but he made his way out of the house to the beach.”

No one was reported injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation, firefighters said.

No further information is immediately available.
