Hurricane Jose weakens into tropical storm

FORT MYERS, Fla. Hurricane Jose weakened into a tropical storm Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said.

Tropical Storm Jose has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and is moving west-northwest at 7 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. The system is about 435 miles east-northeast of the Southeastern Bahamas and about 520 miles south-southwest of Bermuda.

“Jose is expected to restrengthen by the weekend,” the National Hurricane Center said.

No coastal watches or warnings are in effect, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Jose is not expected to impact Southwest Florida.
