Looking for a job when you already have one can be dicey.
But it can be done, with care.
Rule No. 1: Be discreet
Don’t tell other employees you’re looking for a new job and don’t post about it on social media. It could get back to your boss more quickly than you think.
Rule No. 2: Keep your job searching separate from your work time
Don’t look for new jobs while you’re supposed to be working. And try to schedule interviews before work, after work or during your lunch hour if possible.
Rule No. 3: Make sure you put in the effort
Searching for a job can be time-consuming, especially when you’re working all day. Schedule time each day to devote to it.
Rule No. 4: If you get caught, be honest
It’s best to tell your boss the truth about job hunting if you’re asked about it. Who knows? You might even get offered a raise.
