On Thursday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free seminar for seniors which shows how to avoid being scammed and how to protect your identity from being stolen,

LCSO says the seminar is called “Savvy Seniors,” and it will help seniors protect themselves from scammers.

Crime Prevention Specialist, Heather Turco says educating the seniors is just the first step to keeping them protected.

“We definitely know there is a need to educate our folks about all kinds of concerns. There are reports everyday about people right here in Southwest Florida – who fall victim to scams – their identity is compromised and often times they lose thousands of dollars, if not more in the process,” said Turco.

The seminar is on January, 31 and is for anyone that would like to attend, not just seniors, and the event will be held at Fort Myers High School.
