A woman thrown from her horse while riding in Lee County is expected to be OK thanks to a child and a Lee County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.

On April 9, at around 6:30 p.m., LCSO responded to a 911 call about a woman who suffered head trauma when thrown from a horse.

The woman called 911 but was not entirely coherent due to her injuries. A child riding with her was able to provide law enforcement with information about where they started their ride and basic information about their current location.

The sheriff’s office sent a helicopter to search for the woman in need using the information provided by the child. They were able to find them less than two minutes into the search.

Rescuers and EMS were sent to the scene, and the woman was taken to the hospital. LCSO said she is expected to be OK.
