Photo via Lee County Property appraiser On Thursday morning, a preview of what you’ll owe in property taxes is going out in the mail. These trim notices will be in your mailbox in a matter of days, and if you would prefer not to wait, you can look it up online beginning Friday. Many homeowners get anxious about this notice because if your property value isn’t accurate, it could cost you a lot of money in taxes. Lee County property appraisers office says it takes months for them to come up with these values, and all of it is based on how many people are buying and selling in the market. As of now, appraisers say the market is doing well but they stress because mistakes can be made. However, there are things you can do to make sure your property value is correctly portrayed. “If they don’t agree with the value we said the property is worth, they need to contact us, from the time they get the trim notice they have 25 days for the mailing of the trim notice,” said Kenneth Wilkinson, CFA. Lee County property appraisers did say that Lee County actually has one of the lowest percentages when it comes to the amount of people appealing property value.
