A 72-year-old Naples man was killed Thursday morning after being hit by a garbage truck, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
A fatal crash happened inside the Naples Land Yacht Harbor community around 11:56 a.m. on Flounder Drive at Pier H.
FHP says a waste management truck was backing up as Dennis Barefoot was approaching in his golf cart. The truck then backed into the front of the golf cart, striking the front of the vehicle.
Barefoot was killed as a result of the crash.
The crash is under investigation.
