Cape Coral kicks off the holiday season with Christmas tree and Menorah lightingEarly morning police presence at a Rib City in North Fort Myers
A tropical wave in the central tropical Atlantic has changed little in organization Monday. Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for development over the next couple of days, as the disturbance moves toward the Lesser Antilles. However, by this weekend, the tropical wave will move into a more hostile environment, featuring higher vertical wind shear and drier air. The National Hurricane Center currently gives this system a 60% chance of development over the next five days. If the system becomes a tropical storm, the next name on the list is Josephine. Locally, we’ll have scattered showers and storms this week with most of the activity in the afternoon. With lots of daytime heating and tropical moisture, expect areas of heavy rain at times and frequent lightning. High temperature near 95, heat index values will peak between 103 – 108.
