The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is reminding parents to check the state’s sex offender registry before going out trick-or-treating on Halloween.
FDLE is saying that you can download their app or search the registry here. They also recommend having a safety plan before heading out with your family.
“I hope all parents will download the free app before going trick or treating and then use it often to help keep their families safe and to report suspicious activity,” said FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen.
In addition to searching the sex offender registry, you can also access active AMBER, Silver and missing person alerts, search wanted people and unsolved cases. Of course, you can also submit tips about suspicious activity through the app.
“It’s just a safety measure for families that is used to keep them safe and also to report any suspicious activity they may see on this holiday,” said Jessica Cary, Public Information Officer for FDLE.
The FDLE app is available through the Apple App Store and Goggle Play store and does not track your location. If you cannot download the app, you can go to their website.
