Motorcyclist killed in Arcadia crash

A 60-year-old Arcadia man was killed in a vehicle crash Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a van driven by a 68-year-old Arcadia man was stationary at the posted stop sign on North Mills Avenue around 9:34 p.m., at the intersection with East Hickory Street. The motorcycle was traveling west on East Hickory Street, approaching North Mills Avenue in the inside lane.

The van traveled from the stop sign and violated the motorcycle’s right of way. The front of the motorcycle collided with the left side of the van within the intersection. The motorcycle came to rest in the area of collision while the van stopped on the southwest shoulder of the intersection.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. The van driver suffered minor injuries.
