A traffic stop in Golden Gate led to the arrests of two convicted felons on multiple felony drug charges Monday night.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Kassandra Sue Stephens, 29, and Rudy Mario Perez, 36, both of White Lake Bouelvard, were passengers in a car that nearly struck a dump truck and an SUV on I-75 shortly after 9 p.m. Deputies pulled over the car at the intersection of Immokalee and Livingston roads to conduct a traffic stop and found Stephens and Perez to be in possession of a large amount of narcotics.

Stephens has been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine (14 grams or more), possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl, possession of a controlled substance – Adderall and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Perez has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and obstruction.

The CCSO says Stephens and Perez both have lengthy criminal arrest histories in Collier County. Both will have their first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
