A marina could soon be coming to the Waterway Estates community in North Fort Myers.

It would be located at a lot that has been vacant and fenced off since 2007 when the county bought it.

On Wednesday, the county held an open house where they showed people in the community one of the two proposals.

Although it’s still under evaluation, the proposal would include dry storage for 200 boats, boat slips, a restaurant and a pool.

Neighbor Anne Marie hopes it’s done right, “I’m happy about the restaurant coming back and having the marina opened again. I just hope that it’s done tastefully and it’s not too overwhelming.”

Fellow neighbor Brig Vanderwoude said, “we’ll be able to walk to the restaurant. I mean, how good can it get. We can enjoy the bar or paddleboard from here.”

The proposal will be brought up to Lee County commissioners next month.
