In about 46 days, The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club will host its 62nd annual Shrimp Festival.

The festival was canceled for the past two years due to the pandemic. On Monday, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved the permit.

This year’s Shrimp Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13.

The former president and marketing chair for the Fort Myers Beach Lions Club, Shelby Stites, says five events will be spread out across the two days. “The event is outside. It is in the sun, God willing, and that always plays in our favor. On top of just being outside and not in a confined space,” said Stites.

“We will have extra hand washing stations throughout the whole parade and in the arts and crafts expo area as well. So you know, you can if you’re not feeling well, we, of course, advise do not come,” Stites said.
