Lee Health reports 173 COVID-19 patients in hospitals as of Wednesday morning

Lee Health hospitals continue to remain busy with some patients experiencing longer than usual wait times at the emergency departments.

Patients are treated in order of severity of their illness.

Those with life-threatening conditions such as heat attack or stroke are always treated immediately, Lee Health said.

Here are Wednesday’s COVID-19 hospitalizations.

  • As of Wednesday morning, there are 173 COVID-19 patients isolated in Lee Health hospitals.
  • Of those patients, one of them is being treated at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
  • On Wednesday morning, the hospital census was at 95% of staffed operational bed capacity.
  • On Wednesday morning, census in the intensive care unit was at 95% of staffed operational bed capacity. There were 25 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
  • On Tuesday, Lee Health emergency departments saw 802 patients, which is typical for this time of year.
