The Lee County Sheriff’s office is investigating four scenes in Lehigh Acres after deputies responded to two robberies and stopped one robbery suspect who tried to flee on Wednesday.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno says the incident began as a home invasion robbery. The sheriff said that another robbery took place at a nearby construction site at the same time. He said a suspect pistol-whipped someone at that construction site.

While deputies were investigating those robberies, Sheriff Marceno says LCSO received a call from a person who said they were following one of the suspects.

Deputies caught up to that suspect and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The sheriff said the suspect did not stop and fled from deputies, hitting two other vehicles and nearly hitting a school bus.

Marceno said deputies then pit maneuvered the suspect’s car to end the chase.

“That kind of behavior in my county that deadly force behavior gets you a job for the medical examiner or 6 feet under in a casket. He goes behind bars where he belongs,” said Marceno.

Crime scene tape was put up to mark off one of the scenes where a mailbox was knocked down by the suspect who was fleeing from deputies.

Carl Blaes, who owns the home where the mailbox was, said, “Half an hour before, I just came in on a motorcycle ride, you know, and that’s why I could have been hit. You never know.”

Bales said, “I don’t like it but, at least they got caught that’s the good thing about it.”

LCSO deputies arrested the suspect who fled. The sheriff said the suspect is 21-years-old. During an investigation of the car after the chase, Marceno said a .40-caliber pistol was found outside the car.

Sheriff Marceno said there are four scenes total and four suspects in custody, including the one who fled from deputies.

“We have one suspect in custody, three others in custody, and we’re working out the details to see exactly what their involvement is,” said Marceno.

Sheriff Marceno provided an update from the scene at the end of the chase. You can watch it in the player below or by clicking here.
