A boxing champion threw punches on a flight. Mike Tyson was caught on camera hitting an airline passenger behind him.
Now WINK News is learning that the last known address of that passenger is in Punta Gorda.
Melvin Townsend III’s attorney sent WINK News a statement, saying in part that their client is a huge fan of Tyson and that he got “overly excited” when meeting him. Then, Tyson became agitated and began to strike him. You can read the complete statement below:
“Our client is a big Mike Tyson fan. When Mr. Tyson boarded the plane, he became overly excited. At first, their interaction was cordial. At a certain point, Mr. Tyson became agitated by an overly excited fan and began to strike him. This situation could have been avoided simply by contacting a flight attendant. Our client denies throwing a water bottle prior to being struck by Mr. Tyson. To state the obvious, as one of the greatest fighters of all time, Mr. Tyson should have known not to use his hands on an overly excited fan.”
Representatives for Tyson say an aggressive passenger harassed him and threw a water bottle at him.
Townsend III’s attorney said their client denies even throwing the water bottle.
