An intersection that has given some drivers close calls in the past hopefully got fixed Tuesday. According to the Cape Coral Police Department, two students have been hit while crossing the Trafalgar Parkway and Southwest 20th Ave intersection this school year.

On Tuesday both of the all-way stop signs were put up at the intersection. According to the Cape Coral Police Department, there have been 141 traffic stops near this intersection since January of 2019.

“People just fly right through here, and they’re right next to the school and they have the crossing guard with the stop sign and some people just keep going through anyway,” Andee Morin a Cape Coral resident told us. “I’ve had some close calls, especially when they’re turning. They don’t even look, they’re going down this way so they are not looking my way and they just cut me off.”

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, there have also been 20 crashes near this intersection since 2019. Neighbors said they’re happy this intersection will finally be safer for the community and for children heading to school.
