Sunday marked one year since 20-year-old Evereonna Sankey was gunned down at the Brown Sugar Festival in Clewiston on May 1, 2021.

The person who pulled the trigger, killing Sankey and injuring four others, is still on the run and the family has pleaded for someone to step forward with information.

There are no new leads and the investigation is still active.

The 20-year-old was attending the festival in Clewiston last year when gunfire erupted.

Days after the shooting Larance De’Angelo Humphrey was arrested for tampering with evidence.

Deputies say he was trying to get surveillance video to keep it from law enforcement and was charged with accessory to murder.

According to the Hendy County Sheriff’s Office website, Humphrey is still in custody.
But Sankey’s killer is still out there.

Her family and friends are left with just pictures and memories of their beloved Evereonna, with no answers when it comes to her death.

That number to call is 1-800-780-TIPS. And there’s an additional $5,000 reward from the Florida Sheriff’s Association Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program. You can also submit tips anonymously through southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com

— organizers of the brown sugar festival said there will be no crowds — no d’js and no food trucks.
Instead they are asking neighbors to celebrate in their own yards on the first saturday in may.
