Florida Highway Patrol says a person riding a bike is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV near US-41 in Charlotte County on Saturday.
Troopers say the bicyclist was traveling north just after 9 p.m. Saturday, crossing Cochran Boulevard, when an SUV turned into Cochran Blvd. from US-41 and hit the biker. FHP says the person on the bike was not using the crosswalk in the area.
The 59-year-old bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
