The City of Fort Myers has teamed up with Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers to increase the reward being offered for tips on two deadly recent cases by $2,500.

According to a Crime Stoppers Facebook post, Fort Myers voted to supplement the Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to arrests in two different investigations: the homicide of 33-year-old Craig Truttling and the hit-and-run death of 61-year-old Danny Hand.

On Friday morning, Truttling, who was a coach for the 14U Fort Myers Firecats, was gunned down inside his pickup truck on the side of Highlands Circle. On Saturday, Hand was walking in the area of Highland Avenue and Thomas Street when he was struck and killed by a driver who left the scene. In hopes of encouraging people to come forward with information, Fort Myers leaders voted at a city council meeting to increase the reward for tips in each of these cases by $2,500 each, bringing the total reward to $5,500 in each case.

“We are certain that there are people in the community who know more about both of these cases than they’ve shared so far,” said Trish Routte, coordinator for Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers. “We are hopeful that the incentive of the extra reward money from the City of Fort Myers will encourage people to step up and do what’s right – both for the families of Craig and Danny, as well as our community as a whole. It is critical that we put a quick halt to the violence.”

Anyone with information about the Truttling homicide or the Hand hit-and-run can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477. Tips may also be made online or on the P3 Tips app. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
