A man was arrested after he threatened to stab a restaurant employee with a knife on Friday around 1 p.m.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call about a public disturbance at the Chilakil restaurant.

When deputies arrived they found Sean McMullen, 27, sitting on a picnic table outside the restaurant.

Deputies asked McMullen if he had any weapons on him. McMullen told them that he had a box cutter, according to reports.

Deputies said the victim said McMullen came into the restaurant and asked to charge his phone. The restaurant employee said that he could as long as he bought something.

After a few minutes of watching McMullen’s suspicious behavior, the employee said that McMullen had to leave because he hadn’t bought anything from the restaurant, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

McMullen began to watch the employee as she returned to the counter.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, a witness said they watched McMullen’s aggressive behavior, and when McMullen looked over at the witness, he flashed a blue box cutter from his pocket.

The witness said McMullen started making hand gestures with the box cutter resembling cutting someone across the stomach. Then McMullen returned his attention back to the employee with the box cutter still in his hand.

The witness said they feared for the employee’s safety so they alerted the employee about what they had seen McMullen do. The employee who feared for her life went to another neighboring establishment for help.

Another employee then came and asked McMullen to leave. McMullen left the restaurant and was found sitting at the picnic table deputies arrested him at.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies asked McMullen if he pulled the box cutter out of his pocket and he admitted he did only to show the witness the cutter he uses for work. Deputies also asked if he threatened anyone with the box cutter, McMullen denied it.

McMullen was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Naples County Jail.
