The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the man they say is responsible for shooting a man during a robbery in Pine Manor in June.

Deputies arrested Jared Maurice Jackson, 29, after a DNA match linked him to the crime.

On June 16, Jackson was one of two suspects that the sheriff’s office says ambushed a man who was taking their trash out. The fight moved into the victim’s apartment, where one suspect shot him inside.

Investigators say Jackson was suspected of being the shooter early in the investigation. They say he crashed his car while fleeing the scene and was only charged with DUI and cocaine possession at the time.

Later, deputies say they matched DNA found on the victim’s shirt with Jackson.

Jackson is now facing charges of home invasion robbery with a firearm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
