Around 86,000 voters in Lee County already cast their ballot by mail for Tuesday’s midterm primary ahead of the general elections in Nov.

While others decided to take advantage of early voting to avoid lines at the polls on Tuesday.

Signs and supporters were present and accounted for at Precinct 101 and ready to welcome all voters.

One of those voters was Lee County resident David Manning. “I feel it’s our duty to come out here and vote,” Manning said. “And the changes start now. And if you care about what’s going on with our city and our government, it starts right here.”

Melissa Boyer was also voting in Lee County and shared some thoughts with WINK News.

“It’s our civic duty to make sure we get the right people in office,” Boyer said.

Lee County resident Jordan Pollock was voting and has made sure to never miss this opportunity.

“I just never want to miss an election,” Pollock said. “Since I turned 18. I always wanted to come out and vote in every election.”

Polls close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Lee County, and there are a bit more than half a million eligible voters.

Lee County supervisor of elections Tommy Doyle said to WINK News a 25 to 30% turnout is the average for a primary election.

“You should be seeing some results by 7:15 or 7:30 p.m.,” Doyle said.

And Doyle believes by the end of the day Lee County will be in that range.
