A man is dead and another is accused of killing him after an argument broke out over former President Donald Trump in a DeSoto County home on Saturday.

Donald Henry, 35, is accused of stabbing  Shawn Popp after the two got into a heated argument about Trump filing for bankruptcy, according to an arrest report from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office.

The stabbing occurred inside the home in the 6100 block of SW Shores Ave. Popp left the home after the stabbing but crumbled to the ground on the driveway, where he died as witnesses try to stop the wound from bleeding, according to an arrest report for Henry.

Henry faces a charge of homicide.

According to the arrest report, Henry told authorities he stabbed Popp in the upper chest “where he was trained to aim because he was taught to stop the threat like police officers are.”

Witnesses said the two were seated at a dining room table and Henry was sharpening a knife while he was speaking with Popp.

One witness said, “the next thing realized they were arguing and then (Henry) had stabbed (Popp).”

She said Henry tried to leave, but she grabbed his keys and hit her in the face, according to the report. She had a laceration on her eyebrow.

Deputies observed a “few small red superficial marks” on Henry’s forehead and a pea-sized amount of dried blood above his eyebrow but no visible signs of being aggressively battered as he described.
