Florida Power and Light is urging its customers to protect themselves against fraud with a couple of quick and simple do’s and don’ts.

Here are four quick tips from FPL:

  1. Don’t share personal information if you get a suspicious call—instead, hang up. Remember, caller ID may falsely display FPL’s phone number and name.
  2. Don’t respond to questionable payment requests. FPL will never demand immediate payment through Zelle, a prepaid card, or a wire transfer to avoid service disconnection.
  3. Do ask to see the FPL employee or contractor’s photo identification badge and work request number prior to letting them in for scheduled appointments every time.
  4. Do contact law enforcement if you think you or someone you know may have been a victim.

If you would like more information about how you can protect yourself against fraud, you can visit FPL’s website.
