A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after deputies say he shot another man to death at Restaurant Depot in San Carlos Park.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Jancarlos Rosado was arrested after deputies responded to a shooting at 17751 S. Tamiami Trail just before 11 a.m. They heard gunshots outside as they arrived.

Shortly after, they saw a man lying on the ground who had been shot multiple times. Rosado was standing nearby. Deputies detained him and secured the scene.

Detectives spoke to several witnesses and established the shooting was not related to Restaurant Depot. Based on the evidence they gathered, detectives arrested Rosado.

Deputies say Rosado and the victim knew each other, saying they are family. The sheriff’s office did not disclose the nature of the relationship between the two men, only saying it was a domestic family dispute.

Chilling surveillance video captured the deadly shooting. One moment, the victim is pushing a cart of supplies at Restaurant Depot, ready to load them in his SUV. The next, gunshots ring out, hitting the victim and knocking him to the ground.

Seconds later, the victim is back on his feet as he tries to hide from the gunman.

Deputies say that’s when Rosado calmly circled the SUV, gun in hand.

“The proof of guilt is evident, and the presumption is free given that there were cameras that captured this incident, and he was on scene,” said prosecutors during Rosado’s first appearance.

At a first appearance Friday, the state requested Rosado should be held without bond. “I do not believe there would be any conditions of release that would guarantee the safety of this community.”

The community shopping at Restaurant Depot did not feel safe Thursday as the gunfire rang out and deputies swarmed the business.

Rosado is currently in custody at the Lee County Jail without bond. He faces charges of second-degree murder.
