Bicyclist hospitalized in hit-and-run on Dean St in Bonita Springs

A bicyclist was hospitalized late Thursday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Dean Street in Bonita Springs.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle, possibly an older model Mercedes Class C sedan, was traveling east on Dean Street, approaching Harold Street just after 11:30 p.m. A 24-year-old Bonita Springs man was biking east on Dean Street, approaching Harold Street.

The vehicle rear-ended the man’s bicycle and drove away. The cyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
