A Cape Coral man was found guilty Monday of molesting a child younger than 12.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Guillermo Garcia Hembree, 43, was found guilty as charged of sexual battery upon a child less than 12 years of age and lewd or lascivious molestation. He was convicted following a four-day trial in Lee County.
Hembree was arrested in March 2021 following an investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation began after a young child confided in an adult about past crimes done to them by Hembree.
Hembree was already a convicted sex offender for an offense that occurred in Georgia in 2005. He
now faces life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
