The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a murder-suicide occurred in Golden Gate Estates on Wednesday.

CCSO says it all ended off 27th Street Southwest, where 50-year-old Eric Brian Jensen shot and killed himself in the woods not far from his home.

Earlier Wednesday evening, a massive law enforcement presence was at the scene, including a SWAT team.

“We were just coming home from work and saw a lot of SWAT team out here in different military grade vehicles. Kind of interested like everybody else to as to what was happening,” Golden Gate Estates resident Kirean Jones said.

Many law enforcement vehicles were seen entering and leaving the scene when WINK News arrived.

“Unfortunately, people have all sorts of stuff going on in their life and you know some of them can’t control it and do bad things,” Golden Gate Estates resident Len Brown said.

As deputies tracked Jensen down, CCSO reported he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a path leading into a wooded area at the end of the street.
