After pleading Nolo Contendere, or no contest, to reckless operation of a vessel, a Cape Coral man, Darren Caster, 54, was sentenced to probation.

Caster’s court case dates back to Memorial weekend – May, 2023.

Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) responded to a person overboard near Picnic Island.

A witness described the boat and assisted the person in the water. A short while later, the 25-foot vessel returned to the scene and recovered their ejected passenger.

FWC also responded, found the vessel at the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River and conducted a stop.

After confirming the ejected passenger was uninjured, the operator was taken into custody.

In August, a judge sentenced Caster to nine months probation.
